School of Computing and Informatics

The School of Computing and Informatics (SCI) offers education in the areas of computer science and information sciences. SCI is trying to answer the unprecedented need for knowledgeable IT personnel that will contribute to the building of the next-generation information systems, in both private and public sectors. At HTU, we place a strong emphasis on our links with the industry to ensure that our programs remain agile and relevant. In rapidly changing industry, we make sure that our students are always up to date with the latest skills needed to compete in the job market.

 

The School offers the following programs:

Computer Science

The Computer Science program at HTU ultimately aspires to prepare professional, critical thinkers and highly qualified students who are ready to meet the demands of the ICT industrial sectors locally, regionally and globally. The Computer science program involves the understanding and design of computers and computational processes. It is devoted to the study of the theory, experimentation, and engineering that form the basis for the design and use of computers. HTU intends that students gain knowledge of object-oriented programming languages, database systems, software engineering, computer networks and numerical analysis. Partnership with various industrial enterprises offers the student more hands-on practice of the taught materials using HTU high tech labs.

Information Sciences

The Information Sciences program is the study of the characteristics and behavior of information, the factors governing its flow and the means of processing it to facilitate the maximum utilization of information. It includes the activities of processing, broadcasting, assembling, organizing, storing, retrieving, interpreting and using information. HTU offers students current high demand technology topics, including big data analysis, cyber defense, digital forensics, artificial intelligence and data communication and networking. HTU provides both classroom experience as well as practical experience through internship opportunities, industrial partnership and high tech in-campus labs. The curriculum is flexible enough to cope with the pace of evolving technology, allowing the fulfillment of global industrial demands.
