I would like to welcome you to the School of Engineering Technology (SET). In SET we offer our students a completely different and unique learning experience. We also strive to ensure that our students are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge that ensures their success in the job marketplace.
The following points ensure that we achieve such goals:
All our faculty members and teaching assistants have practical industrial experience. This ensures that our students gain practical relevant skills and knowledge.
One of the main pillars of the learning model is the application of Project Based Learning (PBL). Each assignment brief is built around a real-life scenario, that requires the student to apply relevant and real life skills.
Each of our students undergoes an 8-month apprenticeship in a local or an international company. The apprenticeship model has been adopted as opposed to a traineeship. The apprenticeship ensures that the apprentice becomes an effective productive member of the workforce, an experience that in many cases leads to immediate employment.
The study plans are continuously updated to reflect the requirements of the employers and the job market. Most of the final year courses are directly linked to market sectors, such as photovoltaic systems, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and wind energy.
