The School of Construction Technology & Built Environment (SCTBE) at Al-Hussein Technical University (HTU) offers two programs; one in Architectural Engineering and another in Civil Engineering, at three levels of qualification: Technical Certificate, Technical Degree and B. Sc. Degree. SCTBE has built its strategy for the technical education to be uniquely positioned to respond fully to the employer needs. It follows Pearson BTEC (Business and Technology Education Council) qualifications and standards. The BTEC qualifications provide progression routes to both university and employment. They have been designed to provide specialist work-related learning and are equivalent to the first and second year of a university degree. The BTEC degrees in Construction and Built Environment are both ideal if students are looking to progress to, or within, employment, or pursue higher qualifications.
SCTBE could be considered as a showcase for learning by doing and to help students acquire knowledge, skills and behaviors needed to succeed in the workplace. It aims to serve as a hub for intellectual vitality by providing access to higher education for students from different academic, social and cultural backgrounds. The School also encourages inter-cultural dialogue through the exchange programs and carrying out scientific excursions to different parts of the world.
SCTBE, working hand in hand with industry partners, also delivers state-of-the-art professional development programs with the goal of equipping professionals and people who seeks skill advancement with the required skills that will boost their competitiveness and open new horizons for them in regards with their professional career. Within this vision, the School in corporation with the A/E Business Council has designed a “Professional Diploma Program in Quantity Surveying” targeting civil and architectural engineering professionals who work in consulting firms or those who work in contracting companies as project managers or site engineers and aims to advance their management and contractual skills.
