Al Hussein Technical University and German Jordanian University Sign MoU to Advance Collaboration in Education and Research

[October 9th, 2024, Wednesday] - AMMAN - Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) and German Jordanian University (GJU) have signed a strategic MoU to strengthen their collaboration in education, research, and innovation. Both universities share a common vision for fostering academic excellence, and their partnership aims to address key societal and economic challenges in Jordan, in alignment with the country's Economic Modernization Vision.

The agreement outlines a framework for joint efforts in areas such as student exchange programs, collaborative research, and innovation initiatives. Through this partnership, HTU and GJU will work together to pool resources, exchange ideas, and provide solutions to national priorities, including sustainability and economic prosperity. The MoU highlights the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration and underscores both universities' commitment to advancing higher education and research in Jordan.

As part of the collaboration, students from both universities will have the opportunity to participate in exchange programs, allowing them to study at the partner institution while receiving academic credit. This initiative is designed to promote collaborative learning and provide students with a broader educational experience. Additionally, the universities will work together on joint research projects, creating a shared "Research Ideas Bank" and exploring funding opportunities to support scientific research in various fields.

HTU and GJU also plan to enhance their cooperation with the industrial sector by establishing initiatives that link students and faculty with industry professionals. This collaboration will focus on developing apprenticeship and internship programs, as well as strengthening the dual studies programs at both universities. The aim is to equip students with the practical skills and industry experience needed to thrive in the job market.

Furthermore, the two institutions will collaborate on advocacy and policy development to address pressing societal challenges. By leveraging their expertise in applied education and research, HTU and GJU will work together to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and environmental sustainability. The universities will also organize joint conferences, seminars, and workshops, providing opportunities for faculty, students, and researchers to share knowledge and expand their networks.

This partnership builds on the strong foundations of entrepreneurship and innovation established by both universities. HTU’s CORE and GJU’s DI-TECH centers have been instrumental in promoting innovation and technology transfer, and the MoU will further strengthen their collaboration in these areas. By joining forces, HTU and GJU aim to create a lasting impact on society through cross-disciplinary projects that address real-world challenges.

Prof. Ismael Al-Hinti, President of HTU, expressed great enthusiasm for the partnership, stating: "This agreement marks a significant milestone in our journey to strengthen collaboration with one of Jordan’s leading universities. Our partnership with GJU embodies our shared vision to elevate education and research to new heights of excellence. We are committed to providing our students with comprehensive learning and research opportunities that enable them to tackle contemporary challenges and contribute meaningfully to Jordan's economic and societal development. Through this collaboration, we aim to engage in interdisciplinary research projects and initiate impactful initiatives that will have a lasting influence on our community."

Prof. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of GJU, also shared his excitement, saying: "We are proud of this partnership with Al Hussein Technical University, which reflects our mutual commitment to providing top-tier academic education and advancing research in Jordan. This agreement opens the door to extensive cooperation in education and innovation, offering both our students and faculty the opportunity to broaden their horizons and work together on solutions to national and international challenges. This partnership is not only aimed at improving the quality of higher education, but it is also a critical step toward building a sustainable future and a thriving economy."
