Al Hussein Technical University celebrates International Women's Day in Collaboration with Swedish Embassy in Jordan

(March 19th, 2023, Sunday) - AMMAN - Al Hussein Technical University, in collaboration with the Swedish Embassy in Jordan, celebrated International Women's Day, and it was held at the HTU's campus. The event aimed to highlight successful examples of women in tech and engineering and promote gender equality in these fields.
The event was attended by notable guest speakers, including entrepreneur Ms. Reema Diab, Al Hussein Technical University instructor Ms. Mariam AlAzzeh, and entrepreneur Ms. Hanan Shahin.
Ms. Diab, who holds the position as a consultant with TESLA and is the CEO of Galaxy for Technology, discussed how organizations can improve their business performance, use data more intelligently, and understand the implications of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, blockchains, and the Internet of Things.
Ms. Azzeh, an instructor at the civil engineering department at Al Hussein Technical University since 2019, talked about her interest in natural building materials and understanding the cultural aspect connected to the local vernacular architecture. She shared her experience as a woman in the field of engineering and encouraged more women to pursue careers in the field.
Ms. Shahin, who started her first startup in 2014, The Atelier, MENA's first eco-friendly event planning company that up-cycles old furniture into affordable luxury events, shared her experience in entrepreneurship with the attendees. Ms. Shahin also talked about her second startup, BloomCart, a try-before-you-buy software for ecommerce stores in the MENA region that automates returns and online trials.
The event was opened with welcoming remarks by Her Excellency the Ambassador of Sweden Ms. Alexandra Rydmark. Ms. Lamees Obeidat from the Embassy of Sweden in Jordan also gave an informative presentation about Swedish Institute Leadership Programs, SHE Entrepreneurs program, and other scholarships available for Jordanians.
Al Hussein Technical University and the Swedish Embassy in Jordan are committed to empowering women in the tech, engineering and other fields. The event was a great success in highlighting the achievements of women in these fields and encouraging more women to pursue careers in them.
