[27 July, 2024, Saturday] - AMMAN - Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) successfully concluded its third National Sumo Robotics Championship, showcasing the exceptional engineering talents of Jordanian students. The three-day event, sponsored by Jordan Kuwait Bank, MenaITech, and Orange Jordan, attracted over 210 teams from schools, universities, and academies nationwide.
Competitors battled it out with meticulously designed and programmed robots in a series of intense qualifiers and finals. Team Volts emerged victorious as champions, followed by Team Robodozer and Team Steady Smashers.
In the category of best programming, the top honors went to teams Double Face, Robotism, and TRX, respectively. The Mechanical Design category saw teams UCA2, Jousters IEEE BAU, and Squad X clinching the first three spots. For best strategy, teams Tops, Porsche Engineers, and Mazinger emerged victorious.
The contest also recognized exceptional teams with Jury awards. Team "فتيات القوة" was honored with the Team Spirit Award, showcasing exemplary camaraderie and teamwork. Team Enegma received the Rising Star Award, highlighting their significant progress and potential. The Junior Award was presented to Team One Hit for their outstanding performance as young competitors. The Creativity Award was bestowed upon Team "الشمايلة الجدد", acknowledging their innovative approach and out-of-the-box thinking.
Prof. Ismael Al-Hinti, President of HTU, commended the participants and expressed pride in the university’s role in fostering innovation and technical skills. "This championship is a testament to the bright future of Jordanian engineering," he stated. "HTU is committed to providing platforms for students to excel and contribute to the nation's technological advancement."
At the end of the closing ceremony, the championship team presented team awards, in addition to thanking the sponsors, including Saj Restaurant, Blue Fig, Waslleh, and Astrolabe.
