Al Hussein Technical University students excel in drone competition supported by Boeing

March 16, 2023, Amman (Jordan) – Students of the Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) have successfully completed the first round of a drone competition today. Ten teams of engineering and IT students have designed, developed and modified four-propeller drones and prepared them for speed racing, under the supervision and technical support provided by Saqr.

Boeing is a strategic partner of the university in this project. Kuljit Ghata-Aura, President of Boeing in the Middle East, Türkiye and Africa, commented: “At Boeing, we are always on the lookout for innovations and future technologies that move people, goods and ideas around the world. The aerial vehicles developed by HTU students may well expand the list of applications that use drone technology such as last-mile deliveries, infrastructure monitoring and photography. The competition drives student innovation and will contribute to the technological capabilities of Jordan”.

The first round of the competition involved a simulation race to test the design capabilities of the aerial vehicles.

The second round will be held in July 2023 when the students’ teams will compete in a drone speed race leveraging knowledge and skills gained during preparations and the simulation race.

The competition has provided a unique platform for them to showcase their skills, creativity and learn from each other.”

Technical support to the drone competition is provided by SAGER Autonomous Robotics.
