Al Hussein Technical University Wins the Innovation Award for Gender Excellence in the Energy Sector at RENEW MENA Conference 2024

[Wednesday, May 22, 2024] - AMMAN - Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) has been honored with the Innovation Award for Gender Excellency in the Energy Sector Institutional Award at the second RENEW MENA Conference 2024. This event brought together the RENEW MENA community to share knowledge, experiences, and practical know-how focused on enhancing women’s economic participation and leadership in the energy sector.
HTU's Innovation Award recognizes the university's groundbreaking initiatives promoting energy career access and advancement for women. These initiatives encompass various areas, including STEM education to employment transitions, female recruitment, retention, and advancement in the energy sector through capacity-building programs, internships, mentorship, entrepreneur incubators, and financing opportunities.
While in the individual awards category, HTU's Aya Moussa, a graduate in energy engineering, was celebrated with the Young Professional Excellence award. This accolade honors her outstanding achievements and unique contributions to the energy sector early in her career.
The three-day conference featured numerous discussion sessions with key speakers from diverse relevant fields. Among them, Professor Ismael Al-Hinti, president of HTU, participated in a session titled “The Pivotal Role of Academia to Guide and Support Education to Work Transitions,” highlighting the critical role of academic institutions in facilitating successful transitions from education to the workforce. Additionally, Sanaa Issa, Project Manager and HTU graduate, contributed to a session titled “Transitioning to Work: A Conversation with Students, Graduates, and RENEW Interns,” offering insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by young professionals females in the energy sector.
The RENEW MENA Conference 2024 underscored the importance of women's leadership and participation in the energy sector. HTU's recognition at the event reaffirms its commitment to fostering innovation, supporting women's advancement in STEM, and contributing to the broader goal of gender equality in the energy industry.
