Disruptive Online ICT Education Reaches Syrian Refugees Through Nomu Al Ghurair on HTUx.ORG Initiative

Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) has joined the Global University Academy, allocating 60 free opportunities from the 4,000 opportunities offered under the Nomu Al Ghurair on HTUx.org initiative. This initiative is supported by the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation (AGF) and the Crown Prince Foundation (CPF) and is delivered through HTU’s flagship platform, HTUx.org.
The 60 opportunities will be offered to refugee learners through Save the Children’s Connected Learning Hubs in Azraq and Zaatari, giving them access to industry-aligned, employment-focused learning pathways. HTU's accelerated pathway programs—designed and developed by the Digital Learning Center (DLC@HTU)—are micro-credential courses built on a stackable methodology. These programs cover high-demand fields in engineering, computing, and business technology, equipping learners with technical knowledge and practical skills.
Access to these programs will be made possible through the connected learning facilities operated by Save the Children Jordan, in partnership with InZone (University of Geneva) and UNHCR. These facilities enable hundreds of students each year to access global online programs across a variety of disciplines—directly from within the camps
Save the Children Jordan, a national non-profit organization founded in 1974 under HRH Princess Basma Bint Talal’s patronage, ensures child protection, quality education, health, and livelihood support for vulnerable children, youth, and families across Jordan, including refugee camps. Its Connected Learning Hubs in Azraq and Zaatari offer safe, inclusive spaces for learning, well-being, and protection.
The Global University Academy brings together universities, NGOs and UN agencies willing to pool contributions to ensure UNHCR's goal of increasing refugee access to higher education to 15 percent by 2030. By building an ecosystem of diverse actors, each contributing their unique expertise, we aim to develop a scalable universal higher education model, providing internationally recognized higher education programmes and support services for refugees, internally displaced learners, and their local communities.
