(6 Dec, 2023, Wednesday) - Dubai, UAE - The Middle East Solar Industry Association (MESIA) has honored the German Energy Academy (GEA) with the Outstanding MENA Solar Talent Development Program Award for 2023. The award ceremony, which took place in Dubai on December 6, recognized GEA's substantial contributions to the renewable energy sector in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Established in October 2021 in Jordan, GEA has been at the forefront of advancing renewable energy, energy efficiency, smart grids, and digitization. The December 6 award ceremony celebrated GEA's commitment to fostering talent in the MENA region, supported by the Jordanian-German Energy Partnership. Commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action and implemented in collaboration with the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, this partnership has enabled GEA to function as a regional up-skilling center. It provides comprehensive training programs for technicians and engineers, equipping participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for successful integration into the labor market. This initiative significantly contributes to the global energy transition.
Eng. Hamzeh Buqai, Director at the German Energy Academy, expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, "We are honored to receive the Outstanding MENA Solar Talent Development Program Award from MESIA. This reaffirms our dedication to shaping a sustainable future through quality education and skill development in the renewable energy sector."
This award not only acknowledges GEA's past achievements but also highlights the Academy's outstanding role in shaping the future of clean energy development in the MENA region. GEA remains committed to driving innovation and excellence in renewable energy education, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable energy landscape.
Over the past two years, GEA has successfully provided a variety of practical training programs for technicians and technical engineers in solar energy, energy efficiency, e-mobility, and green hydrogen. More than 300 trainees, including approximately 30% females, have benefited from GEA's certified AHK-endorsed training. Additionally, GEA has facilitated job placements for certified trainees in Jordan and Germany.
