[May 21st, 2024, Tuesday] - AMMAN - Today, Umniah Cybersecurity Academy celebrated the graduation of Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) students from its latest training course in ethical hacking. This event marks a significant milestone in the academy's ongoing efforts to enhance cybersecurity awareness and skills among university students.
Seventeen HTU students successfully completed the course. This program is one of many provided by Umniah Cybersecurity Academy, aiming to equip students with essential knowledge and skills to thrive in the job market and address the growing security challenges in the digital world.
The training course covered various topics related to ethical hacking, including penetration techniques, information security controls, defense methods, risk management, social engineering, and the steps of hacking from information gathering and network analysis to executing penetration attacks and reporting.
Amjad Farouqa, Executive Director of Business Continuity and Information Security at Umniah, stated, "We are proud to continue our pioneering role in enhancing cybersecurity levels in the kingdom and supporting state efforts in this field. The ethical hacking course is a new step in this direction, reflecting our belief in the importance of equipping young national talents and enhancing their capabilities in cybersecurity."
Farouqa added, "At Umniah, we are committed to our responsibility towards society and are keen to contribute to building a generation of experts and specialists capable of protecting our cybersecurity and enhancing Jordan's position in this field."
Professor Ismael Al-Hinti, President of HTU, emphasized, "In today's digital age, our need for robust information security measures has never been greater. With the vast amounts of data that underpin the operations of our most critical institutions, ensuring the security and integrity of this information is paramount." He added that this training course in ethical hacking is a vital part of HTU strategy to equip the students with the skills they need to protect against cyber threats.
He finally stressed that HTU are dedicated to continuously developing its students' abilities to meet the evolving demands of the digital landscape and to contribute to the security and prosperity of Jordan.
Ethical hacking involves testing and analyzing the security of systems, networks, and software by attempting to breach them using methods similar to those employed by real
hackers, but with the goal of identifying and fixing vulnerabilities before malicious entities can exploit them.
Carried out with prior approval from system owners, ethical hacking is a crucial component of cybersecurity strategies for companies and institutions. It helps identify potential risks and develop protection and prevention plans.
