HTU and the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission Sign Cooperation Agreement to Advance Research and Technical Training
In an effort to strengthen collaboration between the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) and key institutions within Jordan’s innovation and energy ecosystem, a two-year cooperation agreement was signed between the Commission, represented by its Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Eng. Ziad Al-Sa’aydeh, and Al Hussein Technical University (HTU), represented by its President, Prof. Ismael Al-Hinti.
The agreement aims to establish scientific and technical cooperation in areas related to energy and mineral resources, and to promote mutual exchange of knowledge and expertise between both parties.
Following the signing, Eng. Al-Sa’aydeh highlighted that, under this agreement, the Commission will organize specialized and advanced training workshops for university students focused on sectors regulated by the EMRC. The Commission will also provide data and resources to support the preparation and publication of research papers and technical reports related to Jordan’s energy and mineral sectors, thereby fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing between academia and the regulatory body.
He emphasized the importance of engaging and empowering university students, describing them as the next generation of innovators and builders who will continue Jordan’s development journey. Al-Sa’aydeh underscored the need to integrate academic learning with practical experience, equipping engineering students with the skills required to successfully enter and thrive in the labor market. He also stressed the significance of cooperation in data science and artificial intelligence applications within the energy and mineral sectors, noting that these fields are defining features of the modern era.
For his part, Prof. Al-Hinti affirmed the importance of this partnership with the EMRC, describing it as a vital step toward enhancing students’ technical knowledge and competencies in energy and mineral resources. He added that such collaborations align with HTU’s mission, as an initiative of the Crown Prince Foundation, to develop students’ skills and provide practical exposure that benefits both individuals and the broader community.
