Al Hussein Technical University (HTU), one of the Crown Prince Foundation’s initiatives, concluded the Fourth National Sumo Robotics Championship, hosted over three days at the university’s campus in King Hussein Business Park. The event brought together more than 230 teams representing Jordanian universities, schools, and specialized centers, with the participation of over 800 competitors, supervisors, and organizers.
The championship showcased a high level of competition and innovation, culminating in HTU’s team “Al Ghoul (562)” being crowned the overall champion of the contest, earning the title “Champion of the Championship” after achieving the highest combined results across design, programming, and strategy categories.
Alongside HTU’s victory, several other teams earned top recognition. Princess Sumaya University for Technology secured first place in the match competitions, while the National Institute for Robotics and Technology claimed both second and third places. Yarmouk University distinguished itself by winning first place in both the Best Design and Best Programming categories, while teams from Probot and Al-Balqa Applied University also secured notable achievements. In addition, special recognition awards were presented, including the Spirit of the Team Award to the Model School for Special Education, the Creativity Award to 4th Tech Jo, and the Young Engineers Award to the Islamic Scientific College.
Prof. Ismael Al-Hinti, President of HTU, expressed his pride in the students’ achievements, noting: “This event reflects the true spirit of HTU—where hands-on learning, creativity, and teamwork come together to empower youth and prepare them to be leaders in technology and innovation.”
Eng. Izzeldeen Manasra, manager of the contest, also praised the remarkable performance of this year’s participants, emphasizing that the level of competition was significantly higher than in previous editions, with participating teams demonstrating outstanding creativity and perseverance.
By hosting this championship, HTU reaffirmed its mission to cultivate innovation, applied technical skills, and hands-on learning experiences for Jordan’s youth. The event provided a national platform for students to showcase their talent in robotics and engineering, while reinforcing the university’s role as a leader in applied technical education in Jordan and the wider region.
