HTU Held the Graduation Ceremony of 55 Students from the Upskilling Program in Food Security and Agricultural Technology
AMMAN - Al Hussein Technical University recently announced the graduation of 55 students from the Upskilling Program in Food Security and Agricultural Technology. The program, which is designed to develop the skills and competencies of young Jordanian graduates interested in working in innovative and sustainable agri-tech and food production sectors, aims to respond to Jordan's water, energy, and climate action priorities.
The program, which is tailored to increase employment opportunities for participants by focusing on the skills required in the labor market, such as specialized technical skills in the areas of climate-smart agriculture, English language, research, technical writing, and presentation/communication skills, was attended by 55 vulnerable Jordanians.
The training, which was designed and delivered by experienced practitioners and specialists, included both theoretical and practical components. The theoretical training was provided online by Al Hussein Technical University in Amman, Jordan, while the practical component was delivered at The Sahara project site in Aqaba - Jordan. To emphasize the practical side, the program included scientific trips to several locations across Jordan.
The program was classified into technical and non-technical parts. The technical training consisted of 180 hours, 130 of which were online, and 50 were hands-on at SFP. The non-technical part covered English language (80 hours), soft skills (60 hours), and entrepreneurship (60 hours). The main objective of the technical training was to solve interconnected global sustainability challenges and become market-ready for green jobs in the agritech sector.
Selected leaders served as mentors to guide the trainees through their self-development and market entry journey.
