[31 August, 2025, Sunday] - Amman - Al-Hussein Technical University (HTU), one of the Crown Prince Foundation’s initiatives, signed a strategic partnership agreement with the EDU-SYRIA programme, funded by the European Union (EU) and managed by the German Jordanian University (GJU). The agreement was formalized during a ceremony held at GJU, attended by Mr. Adrian Fernandez Dickmanns, representative of the EU Delegation to Jordan, along with representatives from HTU, GJU, and the EDU-SYRIA management team.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Ismael Al-Hinti, President of HTU, and Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of GJU. Under this collaboration, 40 vocational education opportunities will be offered in the academic year 2025/2026, including 20 for Jordanian youth supported by Al-Aman Fund and 20 for Syrian refugees. Beneficiaries will enroll in HTU’s technical degree programs in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence.
This partnership marks a milestone in HTU’s mission to expand access to high-quality technical education, enhance professional and digital skills, and strengthen employability prospects for both Jordanian youth and Syrian refugees.
Speaking at the signing, Prof. Ismael Al-Hinti, President of HTU, said: "At HTU, we believe education is not only a right but also a catalyst for empowerment and opportunity. This partnership with EDU-SYRIA and GJU reflects our commitment to bridging access to quality technical education, especially for vulnerable groups. By equipping Jordanian youth and Syrian refugees with advanced technical and digital skills, we aim to expand their employability and enable them to contribute to building a more sustainable future for their communities."
Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli, President of GJU, also emphasized the importance of this collaboration, highlighting that the partnership will open new doors for students to access quality education and build essential skills for the labor market.
The EDU-SYRIA programme, funded by the EU with EUR 37.6 million to date, is a consortium of 11 local and international partners including HTU. Since its launch in 2015, it has provided more than 4,000 scholarships for Syrian refugees and Jordanian youth, supporting their higher education, vocational training, and professional development.
