Amman, October 24 – His Majesty King Abdullah II visited Al-Hussein Technical University (HTU) on Wednesday, accompanied by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II. Since its establishment eight years ago as an initiative of the Crown Prince Foundation, HTU has graduated 688 students, achieving a remarkable 100% employment rate.
HTU was founded to address the gap between the number of graduates and their employability in technical fields. During the visit, King Abdullah toured the university, which emphasizes project-based learning and hands-on experiences to ensure graduates excel locally and globally.
The Crown Prince praised HTU as a success story, acknowledging the exceptional efforts of its leadership and faculty in delivering top-tier education and training. He highlighted the university’s focus on equipping students for future careers.
Crown Prince Al-Hussein noted the increasing demand for enrollment at HTU, which has grown from 180 students in 2017 to 2,600 today, with admission based on students’ interests and readiness.
HTU offers bachelor’s and technical degrees in engineering and IT fields, with modern courses such as data science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and game design and development.
During a meeting with members of HTU’s Board of Trustees and deans, His Majesty was briefed by HTU President Prof. Ismail Al-Hinti on the university's role in advancing technical education in Jordan. Prof. Al-Hinti emphasized HTU’s mission to achieve high employability rates by equipping students to meet the evolving demands of industry and the labor market.
Prof. Al-Hinti highlighted that HTU has established over 245 partnerships with public and private sectors, both locally and internationally, enabling students to undertake eight-month apprenticeships in real-world environments. These experiences ensure graduates gain practical and technical skills to secure competitive employment opportunities.
The university’s skill enhancement programs have contributed to the employment of over 2,800 youth in the ICT sector. Additionally, HTU’s tech incubator, **The CORE**, has supported more than 60 local startups.
During the visit to the German Energy Academy, hosted at HTU’s School of Technological Engineering, King Abdullah was briefed by Academy Director Engineer Hamza Buqaei on its role as a regional hub for developing skills in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and smart grids.
In the Robotics Lab, His Majesty received a presentation from Dr. Tariq Toutunji, Dean of the School of Technological Engineering, on how the lab simulates production environments, offering students a dynamic learning experience through practical applications.
At the university’s library—the first public library established at a Jordanian university in collaboration with the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation—His Majesty and the Crown Prince engaged with students and alumni, listening to their experiences and achievements at HTU.
