The Jordan Young Scientist initiative signs a Memorandum of Understating with Al Hussein Technical University
On 29th of September, the Jordan Young Scientist (JoYS) initiative and the Al Hussein Technical University (HTU), a crown prince foundation initiative, signed a memorandum of understanding solidifying their partnership and agreeing on the importance of applying STEM focused initiatives in schools around Jordan.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Tamam Mango CEO of the Crown Prince Foundation (CPF), Prof. Ismael Hinti, President of Al Hussein Technical University, Her Excellency Mrs. Marianne Bolger, Ambassador of Ireland to Jordan, and Mr. Mohammad Tahboub Chairperson of the Jordan Young Scientist initiative.
Jordan Young Scientists is a hugely exciting new national initiative for Jordanian youth that is based on a proven model that was originally implemented in Ireland over fifty years ago. Its purpose is to improve the motivation and rewards for young people who wish to study science and apply it to transform society. It has the potential to transform Jordan by empowering young people to develop solutions to social, technological and economic challenges – through the application of evidence-based scientific approaches.
The first exhibition of the JoYS initiative was held on 8th of June 2022 at Al Hussein Technical University located at the King Hussein Business Park.
Over the next year, with the support and cooperation of the Al Hussein Technical University and partners across Jordan the JoYS programme will be nationwide with the expectation that the initiative will become the paramount national competition for students studying science subjects in secondary schools.
The Embassy of Ireland in Jordan will also continue its strong role and pledge its support to continue to work with the hugely committed partners in the Jordan Young Scientist initiative to ensure its success for many years to come.
