The Upskilling program secures the second place in the Hassan bin Talal Award for Scientific Excellence

(March 19, 2024, Tuesday) - Amman - The Higher Council for Science and Technology announced today that the Upskilling program offered by the Center of Professional Development & Community Outreach at Al Hussein Tecاnical University (HTU) has won the second prize of El Hassan Bin Talal Award for the year 2024. This cycle of the award was dedicated to institutions of higher education excluding vocational education, with 32 projects submitted by 13 educational institutions.

Princess Tharwat El Hassan chaired the award committee along with six experienced experts. The aim of this award, announced today on the occasion of the birthday of Prince Hassan bin Talal, the President of the Council, is to support science and scientists, and to encourage educational, scientific, and technological activities in institutions concerned with education and training. This award is given annually and alternately within a three-year cycle to categories including public education institutions excluding vocational education, institutions of higher education excluding technical education, and vocational and technical education institutions.

Commenting on this achievement, Prof. Ismael Al-Hinti, President of HTU, stated that the Upskilling program provided by the Career Development and Community Engagement Center at the university aims primarily to enhance the proficiency of Jordanian university students, enabling them to obtain employment opportunities and be prepared for employment through a set of technical, personal, and English language skills.

He added that such an award encourages educational and academic institutions to collaborate and work on important projects that benefit Jordanian youth, enabling them to contribute to the advancement of the country and compete locally and globally.

This award represents the university's true commitment to its responsibility of empowering youth, including its students and the local community, through effective educational processes.
