Al Hussein Technical University (HTU), one of the Crown Prince Foundation’s initiatives, welcomed H.E. Abdulaziz Al Ghurair, prominent Emirati businessman and philanthropist, during his visit to the university campus at the King Hussein Business Park. The visit aimed to explore HTU’s unique educational model and its strategy for preparing graduates who are ready to excel in the labor market.
HTU President, Prof. Ismael Al-Hinti, along with members of the university’s administrative and academic teams, received H.E. Al Ghurair and accompanied him on a campus tour. During his visit, Al Ghurair explored the German Energy Academy, where he met the academy’s staff and trainees, learning about its training programs and their impact on advancing renewable and sustainable energy education in Jordan and beyond. He also spoke with a number of participants who shared how the program had equipped them with the skills to pursue careers in the energy sector — even when their original academic backgrounds differed.
The visit also included presentations by HTU staff introducing the university’s academic programs, recent developments, and future plans. Al Ghurair was briefed on HTU’s extracurricular activities and its specialized centers, including initiatives such as Upskilling and HTUx, which extend practical learning opportunities to both HTU students and external participants. These programs reflect the university’s mission to equip young Jordanians with the scientific, technical, and professional competencies required to thrive in modern workplaces.
At the conclusion of his tour, H.E. Al Ghurair viewed a selection of student projects, some of which have competed in national and international competitions. He expressed his admiration for HTU’s progress and distinct educational approach, emphasizing that “the age of a university does not define its impact — excellence and vision do.”
He also commended the university’s ambition to establish a global digital learning platform, offering specialized and industry-relevant courses to learners around the world. Acknowledging the challenges of such a bold initiative, Al Ghurair described it as a transformative step in education that may face resistance but affirmed his confidence in HTU’s leadership and capabilities to make it a success.
In turn, Prof. Al-Hinti thanked H.E. Al Ghurair for his inspiring visit and his continuous support for education as a cornerstone of national and regional development. He expressed his gratitude for Al Ghurair’s engagement and encouragement, describing the visit as “a motivating reminder of the importance of investing in youth and providing them with quality education that opens pathways to a brighter future.”
H.E. Abdulaziz Al Ghurair is a renowned Emirati businessman, former Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council, and the CEO of Mashreq Bank. He is also the founder of the Abdulaziz Al Ghurair Refugee Education Fund, which aims to support over 61,000 refugees and vulnerable Arab youth in accessing secondary, vocational, and higher education opportunities.
