Dr. Salem Alemaishat received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and his Masters of

Science in Computing and Information Systems from Youngstown State University (YSU),

Youngstown, Ohio, in 1998 and 2007, respectively. In 2012, he received his Doctorate of

Science in Information Systems and Communications from Robert Morris University, Pittsburgh,

Pennsylvania.

In 1998, he joined the Department of Information Technology Services at YSU as a software

developer and later became a Project Manager/Team Leader. Over his nineteen years there,

Salem was involved in designing and building multiple systems for the university. He was

the Lead Programmer/Analyst for the first student web registration system in 2000 and was

part of the core team who converted YSU’s old mainframe system to the new ERP system

(Banner) in 2004. Salem was the Lead Project Manager/Lead Developer of the integration of

athletics, housing and scholarship information into the new Banner system. In addition, he

was the Project Manager/Lead Developer of the “Writing Repository System”, a system actively

used by faculty to save student-writing samples which are then evaluated and analyzed for

submission to the state of Ohio for potential grants. Dr has also designed and developed a data

warehouse system for use as a business intelligence tool to offer the proper classes in the

appropriate periods for YSU students.

Other projects at YSU in which Dr. Alemaishat played an active and vital role were the

technology to improve student retention and grades (STARFISH), and the modernization of the

course catalog and curriculum for the Computer Science and Information Systems Department

by updating all aspects of the catalog to provide proper course sequence and proper course

offering. Salem chaired multiple search committees for hiring new personnel to work at YSU.

As a volunteer recruiter for the university, he has recruited over a hundred international students

to attend YSU.

Dr. Alemaishat became a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science and

Information Systems at YSU in 2013. He taught classes in Database, Programming and Problem

Solving, as well as Management of Information Systems.

In 2017, Dr. Alemaishat was appointed at Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) as an assistant

professor and the Dean of School of Computing and Informatic. At HTU, Dr. Alemaishat has led

the school’s startup committee which was involved the curriculum development, degree offering

and faculty employment. In 2020, Dr. Alemaishat was appointed as a department head for the

computer science department at HTU. As a department head, He was responsible for the delivery

of academic programs in accordance with departmental, college and university strategic plans;

hiring and evaluation of department personnel (faculty and staff). Currently, Dr Alemaishat is an

assistant professor at HTU. Dr. Alemaishat research interest involves Wireless communications

IoT, Big data information security, database systems
